Bill of Lading Compliance (California Law)
This Bill of Lading (BOL) complies with California Commercial Code §§ 7301-7309, including:
- Consignor and consignee names
- Origin and destination points
- Number of packages
- Freight description
- Weight, volume, or measurement
The BOL aligns with California Standard Form STD. 254 for legal compliance and uniformity.
Estimated Total Cost of Delivery Service
The estimated total cost is based on the shipment details provided after the quote request. Final charges may be adjusted if:
- Shipment details change
- Actual shipment weight differs
- Additional services are requested
- Unforeseen circumstances arise
Carrier’s Standard of Care
Green Roads LLC exercises due care in handling shipments, in accordance with the California Commercial Code. However, liability does not extend to:
- Improper packaging by the shipper
- Acts of nature (e.g., weather, accidents)
- Delays beyond the carrier’s control
Liability & Claims
- Green Roads LLC is not liable for inherent defects, poor packaging, or concealed damage.
- Claims for loss or damage must be filed within 7 days of delivery.
- The shipper is responsible for proper packaging and labeling.
Freight Charges & Payment
- Freight charges must be prepaid unless otherwise agreed.
- The responsible party (shipper or consignee) must ensure full payment before or upon delivery.
- Under California Civil Code § 2173, Green Roads LLC may require payment in advance and reserves the right to withhold delivery if payment is not secured.
Shipment Refusal & Redelivery
- If the consignee is unavailable at delivery, additional charges may apply for redelivery or storage.
- Delays due to consignee unavailability are not the carrier’s responsibility.
Special Handling & Restricted Goods
- The shipper must declare hazardous, fragile, perishable, or restricted items in advance.
- Green Roads LLC reserves the right to refuse shipments that:
- Do not comply with California transport regulations
- Are deemed unsafe for transport
- Per California Vehicle Code § 31612, hazardous material shipments require a proper shipping declaration.
Delivery Acknowledgment
By signing the BOL, the consignee acknowledges receipt of goods in apparent good order, unless exceptions are noted at delivery.
